Client: Local Authority in South Wales
Timeframe: 2.5 Weeks
CLASP buildings often have structural columns fire proofed with asbestos containing materials (ACMs), and significant additional ACMs throughout.
Asbestos was present in the wall cavities and ceiling voids of this primary school. MSS were commissioned to seal the cavities and remove asbestos from the ceiling voids.
In this instance it was agreed with the client that the top of the asbestos containing column casing was encapsulated prior to start of work in the ceiling voids. This was to prevent any accidental disturbance during works.
As with all schools projects, these tend to be carried out during school holiday periods. Therefore work must be completed to strict deadlines. Our team consistently completed these projects to agreed timeframes preventing any disruption to school opening times.
MSS Environmental has been working successfully with the Estates team within the Council for many years. We have spent time understanding their expectations and processes and continue to invest significant time in producing risk and method statements suitable for complex asbestos removal projects.
